Princeton Partners Health is Awarded Child Wellness Initiative for Major Healthcare System.

PRINCETON, NJ, January 30, 2008 - Princeton Partners Health is working in conjunction with North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System (NS-LIJ), the leading healthcare provider in the Long Island/Queens/Staten Island region along with the Schneider’s Children’s Hospital, on an initiative to develop a social marketing program that will help to change behaviors that have led to the epidemic of childhood obesity in this service area. The goal of this Childhood Wellness Initiative is to develop a pilot program to ascertain community engagement, education and compliance for prevention through to wellness. The objective is to reduce the incidence of childhood obesity and associated type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease by elevating awareness in the targeted market area. The strategy is to develop a successful community-based wellness program through a Childhood Wellness Initiative, to be used as a model for future demographic expansion. Working with designated Long Island School Districts, PPH will develop a pilot program for Grades 1-5 students on healthy eating habits, lifestyle choices and increased physical activity.
